How often should CPAP supplies be replaced?

Many CPAP supply schedules use monthly cushions or nasal pillows, filters every few weeks, tubing and mask frames around every three months, and headgear or humidifier chambers around every six months. Your actual schedule can vary by equipment, usage, cleaning, insurer, and supplier.

Why make a calculator instead of another chart?

Charts are easy to forget. A calculator turns replacement intervals into dates you can print, save, or later export into reminders. That is the wedge: useful utility first, content and monetization second.

Is this medical or insurance advice?

No. This site is informational planning only. Always verify replacement timing, eligibility, and medical needs with your doctor, DME supplier, insurance plan, Medicare rules, and product manufacturer.

Common CPAP supply replacement cadence

The defaults below reflect intervals commonly published by DME suppliers and referenced against the Medicare PAP supply schedule. They are starting points, not prescriptions. Your prescribed plan, manufacturer instructions for use, and how the equipment performs day to day should override any generic chart.

  • Mask cushion or nasal pillows: typically every 1 month — replace sooner if the seal degrades.
  • Disposable filters: typically every 2 weeks — more often with pets, dust, or smoke exposure.
  • Tubing: typically every 3 months — replace if cloudy, cracked, or hard to clean.
  • Full mask / frame: typically every 3 months.
  • Headgear and chin strap: typically every 6 months — elastic loosens with washing and use.
  • Humidifier water chamber: typically every 6 months — sooner with hard water or visible buildup.
  • Non-disposable filter: typically every 6 months — washable filters still wear out.
  • CPAP machine: often planned around a 5-year cycle; Medicare and many private plans use similar reasonable-useful-life windows.

The cost estimate above changes with your planning mode because it reflects an approximate patient share, not the supplier's full retail price. Your actual copay, deductible, and supplier pricing will differ.

Informational only — not medical or insurance advice. Replacement timing depends on your equipment, condition, and plan. Verify with your doctor, DME supplier, insurer, Medicare, and the manufacturer before acting on any date above.
